I agree with that survey as well. My brother and I both had a RAZR and when the iPhone came out, we both switched to the iPhone! I'm also contemplating getting the new iPhone. I use it often but the new data plan is a little more pricey... I'm going to have to research it more.

You have a pretty complete list. I like "Journler" (free) for keeping track of notes etc. Also, hab.la (free) is a pretty nice enhancement for chatting with visitors to your website using Adium or iChat.

I think I can guess why - will they look like saints? Very likely yes - but saints also look after their own interests. In this case, by partnering with Yahoo!, they have essentially made sure that Microsoft cannot attempt a take over of the online search and advertising space.

Let me explain: Were Microsoft to offer Yahoo! a fantastic deal (say $50 a share), and should it be finalized, you would still have Microsoft essentially dependent on Google for a part of its online revenues, which is what Google has wanted all along. Besides Yahoo!, Microsoft has no other option but to let go of the online space or try to (in vain in my opinion) compete with both Yahoo! and Google on their own.

You see, Microsoft has, all these years, remained smug in the knowledge that it is the platform provider and everyone else will be dependent on it, thus ensuring its perpetuity. Come Google, and the offline platform is becoming more irrelevant by the minute, and this has struck fear in and shakes the very core of Microsoft's philosophy and being.

You can rest assured, they will fight tooth and nail to make sure the Y-G deal does not crystallize - but in my opinion - they will falter and they will fail.

Moral of the story - DON'T BE EVIL!

TextMate, as great of a programming text editor as it is, is also a great general purpose text editor. That's the only reason I mentioned it. When I was using Windows, I used UltraEdit for editing all kinds of text files. TextEdit is a great WordPad counterpart, but doesn't work well at all as a Notepad counterpart.

I fully agree that Coda and CSSEdit are must have's for web designers working with a Macintosh.

Dave, CSSEdit was a selling point to me. When I saw it in action I no longer had any doubts about my switch. You mentioned Textmate so I thought that you can't go without Coda and CSSEdit.

I didn't list Coda because I didn't feel it was a program that a typical switcher would be looking at. I agree that any web developer that has switched to the Mac will want to look at Coda as a prime candidate for a tool to use in their craft.

CSSEdit also a great program for anyone looking to work with CSS. It is, hands down, the best CSS editor I have ever worked with and I have worked with a few.

I would add Coda to this list. For its great FTP integration that allows you to quickly publish all files you worked on online with just a single click. And the projects management is also very simple and helpful.

I approved the comment only after editing out the website link you left which appeared to be spam. If you actually do run the site, I would suggest not using it as your home page. I suggest something a little more personal.

As to the comment. It is your opinion. It's true that most Mac's are not very upgradable. However, the Mac Pro is quite upgradable. Plus, the other lines are upgradable in ways that suit their lines. Otherwise, they have powerful enough hardware in them to stand up to quite a bit of time, so upgrading the parts that are not upgradable seem less needed.

Plus, most consumers don't upgrade the systems they own. They simply buy the next more powerful line of computers. There is only a small percentage that know enough about computers to upgrade more than hard drives, RAM and video cards.

So the lack of upgradability is not much of an argument.

Macs are a little overrated to me. You can't upgrade them like you can with regular comps. Most people use to get macs because of video editing, but regular comps have caught up in that field.

I have looked at VMWare Fussion, but I wasn't really all that impressed with it. Fussion claims to support multiple monitors, but I was unable to make this work correctly. The rest of Fussion really isn't all that different from Parallels, so I choose to stick with the product I first purchased.

I'm usually always checking out other software to see if one is better than another.

Of course, you're still more than welcome to buy it separately :D

Yea, I suppose a public beta would have been good. Since he has code to handle registration codes, he could have put code in to handle not allowing a public beta to last beyond a certain date. That would be where I would be worried the most about releasing a public beta.

I'm certainly keeping my eyes on the program. I'm very happy with NetNewsWire as a feed reader, but there are some feeds that would fit well into the format Times uses.

There isn't really any excuse for releasing extremely buggy software, not even being young. Times in its current version should have been a public beta (or maybe even a private beta).

So far I haven't experienced any of the crashes or data loss that other poeple have, which is likely why I ended up migrating the program into my workflow rather than trashing it. Certainly a program where you mileage will vary.

I have high hopes for version 1.1 or 1.2, though. The developer seems to be fixing bugs as fast as he can, so hopefully the 1.x releases will be the stable releases that 1.0 should have been.

Just be careful. Make sure it will work for you before you plunk down the cash for it. I was really dissappointed about the fact that it was crashing so much.

I found out recently through <a href="http://www.geekbrief.tv/gbtv-358-geekbrieftv" rel="nofollow">Cali Lewis at Geek Brief TV</a> that the developer of Times is only 19 years old. So, I suppose I can give him some slack. :)
